Privacy & public rooms
Public rooms are public; for sensitive chats, use end-to-end encryption.
- Public rooms are public. Anyone in a public room can see what you post there — treat it like a room full of people, because it is.
- For anything sensitive, use an app with end-to-end (OMEMO) encryption turned on, so only you and the other person can read it.
- Photos and files you share are stored on our server so others can download them, and are automatically deleted about 30 days later (with end-to-end encryption, what's stored is unreadable ciphertext).
- How we handle your data is in our Privacy Policy.
